TERRY EWING

During his 14 years as a United Methodist Minister, Terry discovered the importance of Biblically-based counseling for struggling, striving, growing believers…yet how inaccessible, confusing and intimidating it can be. With the vision of removing shame and pride from the Christian experience, he started Plumbline Ministries in 1995 to offer affordable counseling as well as counselor training services. Through their counseling and in-person and online classes, Terry and his team have helped hundreds of Christ-followers more fully enjoy God, themselves and others.

At the heart of Terry’s ministry is Stickman Theology, an approach he developed in response to the “strongman theology” so prevalent in the Christian community.

“The idea of strongman theology is that if you get your relationship with God right, everything else falls into place—emotionally, relationally, physically, financially,” he explains. “Stickman theology takes the alternative perspective that God is with us in all the struggles of life. We may have an amazing relationship with God and still be in the very depths of any struggle the world can throw at us. God is with us in the midst of all that. So how can we embrace our role as struggling, striving, growing believers and pull down the strongholds in our lives? That’s what we’re focused on in our work, and in our conversations on this podcast.”

Terry has published multiple books, including “Stickman Theology” and “Stickman’s Battles.”

“As your fellow stickman, I want you to know that, despite my sins and failure, I know God’s love is my salvation, my hope and my joy. I want for you what I have found in Him: a humble heart of love.”
